ENGINEERING BOM (CREATE)

The Engineering BOM (Bill of Materials) Creation process allows users to define and manage BOM components efficiently. It involves filling out structured forms with key details such as item numbers, descriptions, types, and statuses. Users can add child items, alternates, and NRE/consumables while ensuring compliance with mandatory fields.

Navigation

1. Navigate to Engineering.
2. Click Create under the Engg BOM menu.

BOM Form

Upon accessing the page, the main BOM form is displayed.

• Item Number: Select the parent item number.
• Item Description: Enter the item description.
• Item Type: Enter the item type classification.
• Active Status: Toggle to enable or disable the BOM. Enabled by default (Active).
• Upload Items: Click to batch upload items via file selection.
• Format: Click the download icon to retrieve a sample Excel template for uploads.

!!! WarningItem Number is a mandatory field.

Child Item

Manage component items within the BOM.

• Item Number: Select or enter the child item number.
• Quantity: Enter the required quantity.
• Designator: Enter the reference designator.
• Scrap Allowance: Enter the scrap allowance as a fixed value or percentage (%).
• Item Type: Enter the item type.
• Remarks: Enter any additional notes.
• Version: Enter the item version.
• Active: Toggle to enable the child item. Enabled by default.
• UOM: Select the unit of measure.
• Footprint: Enter the component footprint details.

Add Custom Fields: Click Add Custom Field to configure additional parameters: * Select BOM Group: Select the BOM group.

To create a new group, visit: Warehouse

Alternates

Define alternate items for specific components.

• Item Number: Enter the main item number.
• Customer Name: Enter the associated customer name.
• Alternate Item Number: Enter the alternate item identifier.
• UOM: Enter the unit of measure.
• Quantity Per: Enter the quantity per unit.
• Remarks: Enter any relevant remarks.
• Version: Enter the version of the alternate item.
• Probability of Usage: Enter the usage probability percentage.
• Active: Toggle to enable the alternate item. Enabled by default.

Actions: Click Add to save the entry to the list.

NRE/Consumable

Manage Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs and consumables.

• Item Number: Enter the item number.
• Quantity: Enter the quantity.
• Cost: Enter the cost associated with the item.

Actions: Click Add to save the entry to the list.

Save Configuration

Click Save to complete the BOM creation. The record will be available in the View/Modify section.
